Does Spy x Family’s Loid Have No Feelings or Is He Just Too Good at Hiding Them?

Does Spy x Family’s Loid Have No Feelings or Is He Just Too Good at Hiding Them?

Too good at hiding them, of course!

Summary:

  • Loid has an aloof personality, which makes fans wonder if he has any feelings.
  • His mission started as a pretense, but he’s gradually getting attached to Yor and Anya.
  • Loid is trying to suppress his feelings for the sake of his mission.

Loid Forger has always been a rather mysterious character. Despite being the main protagonist of Spy x Family, he doesn’t really like revealing much about himself. Which is understandable, considering his profession.

Loid has a cold and methodical personality and most of the time it feels like the only thing he cares about is completing his mission no matter what. Calculating and calm, he takes his task very seriously and always relies on logical thinking.

Not very emotional

Loid doesn’t show a lot of emotions, and this is intriguing, that’s why fans want to know if he actually has no feelings or if he’s just become so good at suppressing them after years of being a spy.

Fans are absolutely confident: Loid is not an emotionless monster just pretending to play the role of a good husband and father; he’s got a big heart and might even be a softie deep down. But due to his occupation, he has to suppress most of what he’s feeling.

However, there are some signs that show us that he’s not perfect at that.

The game that’s turning into reality

It’s obvious that the pretense bond the Forgers created at the beginning of the series is gradually turning into a real one. Loid and Yor start caring for each other bit by bit, and Anya is not an annoying means to pursue Loid’s mission anymore: she’s becoming more like a true daughter for him and Yor.

While it’s obvious that Loid does have feelings, we can see how hard he’s trying to suppress them. He’s like Elsa from Frozen with her “conceal, don’t feel”, but he’s not fooling anybody. We can see it several times when Loid has to remind himself that the bond he’s creating with his “family” is not real and is just for the mission.

But why would he need to persuade himself of that if it was true?

Loid definitely cares about Yor and Anya. We don’t know if his care for Yor is as strong as their shippers want it to be yet, but we’re obviously going there with each chapter and episode. Fans think that deep down Loid longs for a real family and wants to love and be loved, but he doesn’t even allow himself to think about that.

The fact that his and Yor’s true identities are not revealed yet makes him want to suppress whatever it is he’s feeling even more. Loid probably thinks that he doesn’t deserve Yor, whom he sees as an honest and kind person. He doesn’t want to hurt or endanger her.

Too good at hiding them, of course!
