Gege Does Them Dirty: Which Jujutsu Kaisen Character Received the Most Unfair Treatment?

Gege Does Them Dirty: Which Jujutsu Kaisen Character Received the Most Unfair Treatment?

They deserved better.

Summary:

  • Fans think that various JJK characters were treated poorly in the series.
  • Gege has been criticized for his female characters before.
  • Nobara, Inumaki and Yuki deserved better development.

Jujutsu Kaisen spoilers ahead!

We all love our faves and feel protective over them, so it goes without saying that when we see them treated unfairly, we riot.

Jujutsu Kaisen has been previously criticized for its female characters. We’ve already discussed the twitter misogyny controversion that involved Gege Akutami and mentioned most of his fictional girls vanishing and being killed off. But this time all of the JJK characters are on the menu, and let’s see what fans think about them.

So much potential is just… lost

Nobara is supposed to be one of the main trio, but in reality she’s not given as much attention as the other protagonists. Main story and villains hardly have any connection to her, and fans suggest that Nobara was a last-minute addition to the cast, and the author just didn’t know what to do with her and how to develop this character properly. She gets sidelined during big battles and has the least fight scenes. Moreover, fans think she was just used as a way to make Nanami look more badass during the fight with Haruta only to be killed (presumably) later on by Mahito.

Inumaki is another character that fans are upset with. His cursed technique has been criticized a lot due to it being useless in a battle against stronger sorcerers. And even weaker sorcerers can just protect their ears and avoid any damage dealt to them. Inumaki had much more potential and sidelining him while making him look considerably weaker than other characters is just painful. Fans really hope he gets reversed cursed technique access in the future and will show his true power.

Yuki is one of the Special grade jujutsu sorcerers, which had to mean something, since there are only four of them. She’s supposedly one of the strongest characters and the strongest woman in the series. But fans still call her a waste of character. With so much potential, manga readers were hoping to see her accomplish great things, but she barely interacts with anyone from the main cast, and has just one fight that leads to her death. On top of that, her personality was never given any proper attention, and we still don’t know much about her goals and ideals. All this potential turned into just a plot device.
