Gojo Clan Should Have Been Represented More in Jujutsu Kaisen

Gojo Clan Should Have Been Represented More in Jujutsu Kaisen

Why is Satoru the only Gojo in the series?

Summary:

  • Gojo is one of the greatest clans in Jujutsu Kaisen.
  • There’s only one Gojo in the series, though.
  • Fans wish the clan was represented better.

There are three major family clans in Jujutsu Kaisen: Zenin, Kamo and Gojo. Of course, there are also others, but these three are considered the greatest of them.

While the Zenin and Kamo clans are represented by plenty of characters in the story (Maki, Toji, Naoya, Mai and Noritoshi, Kenjaku, Shino), we’ve only seen the one and only Satoru from the Gojo clan.

Satoru Is the Only One

The funniest thing about all this is that fans don’t even call the character “Satoru” that often (to be honest, it feels weird to call him that even now), they usually prefer to just use “Gojo,” since how could there be any conclusion when we don’t know any other Gojo?

Fans can’t help but feel upset that the Gojo clan wasn’t better represented. Surely a clan that has someone like Satoru would have other great sorcerers, too. And we desperately want to know more about them.

But the closest we get is a random faceless girl walking in the snow with kid Gojo, and Yuta who is not technically a member of the Gojo clan, but is also, just like Satoru, a descendant of Michizane Sugawara and a distant relative of the strongest sorcerer.

No other names, no appearances, no backstories ― we got nothing, and that’s disappointing.

We Need More

Of course, Gojo is so overpowered and has so much soul and personality that he might just be enough. He’s like 10 great characters mixed into one, and we doubt that anyone from his clan ever had a chance to overshadow him.

But it would still be interesting to learn at least a couple of details about the other Gojos.

We know about Gojo’s Inherited Techniques such as Limitless and Six Eyes, but we don’t know how common they were in the Gojo clan. How many other members were like Satoru? Could anyone in the past even come close to him?

All of these things are extremely curious, and it’s upsetting that we never got to learn them. Satoru is one of the most interesting characters in Jujutsu Kaisen, and yet we know so little about him and his clan.

Some fans like to joke that Gojo was so strong that he became the only important member of his clan the second he was born. Others joke that he just lied and told everyone he was from a big clan, while in reality, he wasn’t.

Jujutsu Kaisen really did the Gojo clan dirty. It was criminally underrepresented, its entire reputation depended on Satoru, and the man just died like that. So unfair.
