How cute is she, though?
Summary:
- Google Japan announced a collaboration with Spy x Family.
- It turned out to be a Google Lens project.
- Google Japan released two commercials featuring Spy x Family characters.
A few days ago, on November 25th (or the 26th, depending on your region), the official Google Japan X account posted a small hint at their upcoming collaboration with Spy x Family. The tweet contained the Spy x Family logo and a mysterious “coming soon” message.
Anya assistant?
Fans noticed it quickly and started speculating about what they could expect. Some were just excited to see anything Spy x Family related, and didn’t really care what exactly it would be, and some had a couple of interesting ideas.
Google Assistant was one the thoughts.
“Anya assistant. Works terribly, but sounds cute”, says Riskbreaker_Riot on Reddit.
What if the company added Anya’s voice to their service? It would definitely attract more people and increase sales of Google Smart Speakers. Just imagine Anya answering all your “OK, Google” inquiries!
Another idea was a feature for Google Maps, also including Anya’s voice or maybe various Spy x Family easter eggs or just images. The anime related interface could also be added by the company to keep your favorite characters always by your side when you’re using one of the Google apps.
Google Japan released two commercials
However, there was only one idea that turned out to be true: Google Lens, which is an image recognition technology. When you point your phone camera at an object, the technology reads such things as QR codes and text, and shows relevant search results or information.
Along with the announcement, Google Japan released two small commercials featuring Anya and the rest of the Forgers. The first commercial revolves around the girl going shopping with her family and friends, and she’s as excited as usual. Google Lens turns its users into small detectives (just like Anya!) capable of finding whatever it is they want to find.
The second commercial expands on Anya’s shopping adventures. “Fashion is hard… but fun!” — Anya meets us with this rather relatable message. Both commercials have Anya’s signature “waku waku” and make you go “aww” when you watch them. Just like anything else Anya related, to be honest.
