How Would 100% Rumbling Affect Other Attack on Titan Characters?

How Would 100% Rumbling Affect Other Attack on Titan Characters?

Not in a good way, that’s for sure.

Summary:

  • If full Rumbling were the case with the Attack on Titan finale, every character would suffer.
  • Eren’s friends would have died.
  • Even if they hadn’t, their lives would be miserable.

Back when the Attack on Titan (Shingeki no Kyojin) manga was still unfinished, the full Rumbling was one of the most popular theories. People wanted to see Eren completely lose all slivers of his humanity and destroy the entire world, except for Paradis. It didn’t happen (unfortunately?), but speculating is always fun, so let’s get to it.

Eren’s friends would die

First of all, it’s important to mention that if Eren actually succeeded, there would hardly be any Attack on Titan characters alive, since they were all fighting him in order to stop the rumbling. They could only fail if they were all dead. This might have led to one of the most horrifying and hauntingly beautiful endings.

Imagine if Eren, just like in canon, was hoping that his friends would stop him. But they failed, and he was forced to carry on with the Rumbling. When the entire world is destroyed and his friends are dead, he would turn back into his human self and witness what he’s done.

The horror and blame are so strong, that he can’t take it anymore. He might try to commit suicide but it’s hardly an option for him since he’s the most powerful entity in the entire series, and the survivors on Paradis wouldn’t want to kill him. They would see him as a savior. So Eren would be forced to live the rest of his life in a world filled with ruins reminding him of what he’s done.

No happy endings

But let’s also imagine for a second that the others did survive. Mikasa would probably either want to kill Eren for the atrocities he committed or side with him and live the rest of his life together. Or maybe both: she could try to kill him but fail due to Eren fighting back or due to her own feelings; and then when she understands she has no other choice, she will stay by his side.

Armin would hardly be okay with Eren’s decision to finish the Rumbling, and we doubt that he would be able to forgive his friend for all the horrors. He would probably leave his side and try to keep living somewhere else, far from Eren. Maybe even with Annie, if she survived and was willing to do so.

The rest of the characters would also hardly forgive Eren and might even try to banish him from Paradis. Eren would be a hero there, though, so they would definitely fail, and might even get banished themselves. No matter what might happen, their lives would hardly be happy.

Not in a good way, that’s for sure.
