How Would Some Anime Look Like With Isekai-Style Long Summary Titles

Some shows suddenly became interesting!

We recently talked about this trend of excruciatingly long names of some newer anime titles. Long story short: these anime are mostly adapted from web novels turned into light novels, and light novels try to cram a whole summary into the title so people would be able to easily find something that piques their interest. This trend, however, sparked a fun discussion on Reddit: people started transforming the names of the older anime titles into these long versions, and some results are quite funny.

For example, Chobits became "A Country Bumpkin Like Me Finally Got A PC but They're Also My Girlfriend!?", although another version states that it should be "You'll never believe where the hard reset button is on my super cute computer robot elf girlfriend." Gintama turned into either "After An Alien Invasion A Former Samurai Becomes A Freelancer To Pay His Rent" or, if you go deeper into the backstory, "I made two best friends by framing one for a crime and running another over, I also have survivor's guilt, but at least there’s Strawberry Milk!"

One Piece was described as "Eating a Devil's Fruit gave me rubber powers and now I sail the seas." Another version expanded the story into "I wake up and choose to find a treasure." Neon Genesis Evangelion was summed up as "Finally Got To See My Dad but He Wants Me To Pilot A Robot?" The most puzzling one was "I've lost my memory and am reborn as a robot": this title was conjured for Ghost in the Shell, but can be used for a variety of shows.

Berserk was unraveled into "My Crush Became a Demon God?! Battling Through the Fantasy Realm to Our Fateful Reunion!" and "I want to take revenge for what that asshole has done while slaughtering everything in my path with my big ass sword." Cardcaptor Sakura turned into "Caught In A Magician's Scheme I Am Now A Magical Fashion Forward Elementary Student" and "The Strange Book in My Dad’s Library Had Some Magical Cards in it, But They Flew Away, So Now I Have to Find Them All." Yu Yu Hakusho looks like "I Died, Somehow Came Back to Life, but Now I’m a Detective for the Spirit World?!" or "I was a teenage delinquent and now I'm a detective?!"

There was an interesting effect: some people said that these long names made them want to watch some of the shows from the comments. This one-line explanation was enough to catch their attention and move some titles a bit forward in their to-watch lists. So maybe this trend is not as annoying as it looks, and long titles are useful, after all.
