Frieren: Beyond Journey's End (Sousou no Frieren) has become a total hit this season, and fans are enjoying each episode of the series with admiration and delight. And if you’re tired of waiting for new episodes of Frieren and you’ve already finished all the released manga chapters, but want a piece of that astonishing atmosphere, we’ve got a couple of suggestions for you.
Although Delicious in Dungeon is more comedic than Frieren, there are definitely some similarities. Fans have noticed Frieren’s vibes after one of the recent trailers for the upcoming Delicious in Dungeon anime. It follows a group of adventurers who get stuck in a dungeon as a result of their mission going wrong.
Now they have to think how to feed themselves. Why not eat monsters in the dungeon, then? Upon the preparation of their first meal, they encounter a dwarf named Senshi, who is not new to eating monsters. The anime is going to air in January 2024, but the manga is available already!
2. Maquia: When the Promised Flower Blooms
Just like Frieren, this movie has an ancient protagonist. Maquia is a member of a special race called the Iorph, who are mystical beings capable of living for hundreds of years.
One day, their peaceful existence is disrupted when a group of humans attacks their village in search of the secret to their immortality. After she’s forced to flee, she finds a human baby by chance and decides to raise him as her son, despite knowing nothing of the human world.
3. The Ancient Magus' Bride (Mahoutsukai no Yome)
Chise Hatori, a 15-year-old Japanese girl, is ready to be taken in by anyone who promises her a home since she has been abandoned her entire life. She is purchased by a mysterious masked man, who turns out to be a mage named Elias Ainsworth.
He takes her in as his apprentice and eventually his bride. Due to this arrangement, Chise learns more about magic and the world of supernatural beings as well as begins to uncover the dark secrets of Elias's past.
4. Ascendance of a Bookworm (Honzuki no Gekokujou: Shisho ni Naru Tame ni wa Shudan wo Erandeiraremasen)
This series resembles Frieren mostly in its vibe and careful details to worldbuilding. Urano Motosu is a huge bookworm and reading is her great passion. However, she’s crushed to death beneath a pile of books in her house during an earthquake. But this is not how her story ends.
She wakes up reincarnated in the body of a five-year-old girl, Myne, and finds herself in a world where books are extremely rare, and only available to elites. Since Urano’s just as passionate about reading as before, she decides that she’ll start making books herself.
When you just can’t get Frieren off your mind.
