At least there's hope.
Jujutsu Kaisen manga spoilers ahead!
Summary:
- Megumi's mental state raises a lot of questions.
- All the cursed techniques might have influenced his mind.
- If not, he's still mentally exhausted and needs help.
If you're a manga reader, then you absolutely know why we're even asking this question. And if you're a confused anime-only, it's not too late to click away and spare yourself the suffering.
We've already discussed the current Megumi situation and how manga readers are not even sure that Megumi is still somewhere inside the body that Sukuna is currently occupying. There's a high chance the man is dead after all. But let's imagine that he's not. What then?
How sane is he?
Megumi's mental state is a mystery to the manga readers. They do have their speculations and predictions, though, and we have to be honest, they don't really sound positive.
Since the moment Sukuna came into possession of Megumi's body, there have been dozens of terrible things happening to him that are sure to have made an impact. Fans are especially worried about Sukuna's fight with Gojo, where Megumi's body had to experience the Infinite Void.
However, there are still a number of fans that think this is not the thing we should be worried about. The Infinite Void hardly affected Megumi, since he wasn't in control of his physical body at that moment.
The horrors must have had a great impact
But Megumi's sister situation might have been very impactful. Sukuna used Tsumiki to throw Megumi into despair and completely destroy his spirit, and it worked perfectly. It must have impacted Megumi in the most horrible way imaginable, and fans are unsure if there's even a way to bring the old Megumi back after such torture.
On top of that, we can't forget about all the other hideous deeds Sukuna committed while in Megumi's body, such as the murder of Gojo, for example, that also must have had a great impact on Megumi and his mental state.
Fans don't think that Megumi has any cognitive impairment, though. At least not from the use of Sukuna's cursed techniques. However, they are confident that he's mentally exhausted and might have even lost his will to live.
Still, there's hope that it can all be fixed. If he does survive and there is a way to get Sukuna out of his body, Megumi will definitely need a lot of psychological help and all the support and patience that his friends will be able to provide.
And then, piece by piece and bit by bit, Megumi will have a chance to come back to a somewhat normal person and even try to move on with his life. At least we highly hope so.
