Strong enough to defeat Sukuna? No. Absolutely worthless? Also no.
Major manga spoilers ahead!
Summary:
- Fans found Miguel appearing at the end of Chapter 254 laughable.
- His goal might not be to defeat Sukuna, but to stall him.
- Miguel’s real powers are still unclear.
Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 254 is finally out, and fans can’t stop talking about it since the moment the leaks were revealed. The latest chapter feels like the last straw for the fandom, they’re tired of the repetitiveness and absurdity of everything that’s going on in the series.
Chapter 254 ends with Kusakabe being defeated by Sukuna, and Miguel joining the fight. The main cast characters are running out, so Gege calls for Jujutsu Kaisen 0 ones.
Manga readers found this turn of events quite ridiculous. If such sorcerers as Gojo and Yuta couldn’t do any significant damage to Sukuna, then what are the chances of Miguel doing anything significant? They’re probably close to zero.
Miguel is underestimated
The Miguel plot twist had fans making fun of the entire situation a lot; they think it’s rather obvious how the next chapter is going to end: with Miguel’s defeat. The manga has been following the same route for several chapters already, so there are no doubts in the fandom: Miguel will become just another victim.
However, this might not be the case. Obviously, Miguel is not strong enough to defeat Sukuna, or maybe even cause some major damage to him, but he is one of the best characters in the series to stall the King of Curses.
In the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 movie, this was exactly Miguel’s job ― to stall the strongest opponent, but back then it was Gojo. Although Gojo was able to defeat Miguel, it took him some time.
A lot of curses tried to keep Gojo occupied, but Miguel is the only one who succeeded and kept him busy for a good 15 minutes.
What is his goal?
There’s hardly any hope that Miguel can stand a chance against Sukuna, but perhaps he’s not destined to be the winner in this encounter. What if his goal is to distract Sukuna and buy the rest of the sorcerers more time?
If this is true, then Miguel is actually the perfect choice for the job, and the entire thing is not so laughable.
We don’t really know how strong Miguel truly is, but we have an idea that he has enough power to last for an entire chapter (or maybe even a couple of them?), and that might be just enough to change the course of the battle.
