Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 260: What Happened to Gojo?

Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 260: What Happened to Gojo?

The chapter ends with WHAT?

Major manga spoilers ahead!

Summary:

  • Chapter 260 leaks are out.
  • The chapter ends with a silhouette of Gojo.
  • There are various theories about Gojo’s fate.

Chapter 260 leaks are finally out, and they do have some (un?)expected surprises indeed. The Jujutsu Kaisen fandom hasn’t been this agitated since Chapter 236 when Satoru Gojo met his death at the hands of Sukuna. But the new chapter changes everything.

Todo came back in the previous chapter, so he naturally joined the fight with Sukuna, and there are a couple exciting things going on between the sorcerers and the King of Curses, but we aren’t going to pretend like they’re the most important thing.

Gojo Is Back

Chapter 260 ends with Sukuna noticing a mysterious silhouette of someone he’s seen before. Someone we’ve been dreaming of for months. Someone who’s about to turn the Jujutsu Kaisen fandom into the most unbearable people out there (we say that lovingly).

Gojo appears at the end of the chapter, and there aren’t enough words to explain how hyped the fans are right now. No matter how many chapters had passed since his death, readers were confident: the king would come back one day, he couldn’t just die like that.

Unfortunately, we can’t say for sure that Gojo is really back. The narrator explains that Sukuna saw the strongest ghost that he killed with his own hands. And no explanation followed.

What Does It Mean?

The fandom only needed one frame to start making theories about Gojo. There are a bit too many questions about him. Is he really back? Is he dead or did he fake his death? How could he possibly come back after being sliced in half?

Let’s get the most disappointing theory out of the way. Gojo’s comeback might mean absolutely nothing. It’s possible that the image Sukuna saw was a mere illusion, happening in his head.

Perhaps Gojo’s students reminded Sukuna of the strongest sorcerer and that’s why he appeared in front of his eyes. There was no indication that other characters could see Gojo, too, so it may be too early to get truly hyped.

Another theory is that Gojo did die indeed, but turned into a special grade vengeful spirit, just like Rika did in Jujutsu Kaisen 0. That way, he isn’t magically resurrected, but he’s still able to come back to assist sorcerers in the final battle.

But the theory that fans want to believe the most is that Gojo is truly and fully back. It might go two ways: Gojo really died while fighting Sukuna, but something happened that brought him back to life. Another idea is, Gojo never died, but managed to fake his death. He was waiting for Sukuna to get significantly weaker to join the battle again and settle this once and for all.

Do you think Gojo is really back?
