Jujutsu Kaisen is Going to Be a Game

Jujutsu Kaisen is Going to Be a Game

If you want to feel like one of your favorite JJK characters, you'll have your chance.

There have been two Jujutsu Kaisen games announced so far: Cursed Clash and Phantom Parade. Although we don't really know that much about them, we'd like to take a look at both games and discuss some expectations.

Phantom Parade was first officially announced back in 2021. The original release date was set to 2022, but the game has been delayed twice since then, and now the release is expected at the end of 2023.

Not a lot of gameplay has been shown in the trailers but it looks like the player will have a team of four characters and they can switch to any of them during the battle. Some fans mention the gameplay looking a bit stale, but there's hoping that things will change upon the release.

Fans mention Phantom Parade being a gacha game, and it looks like this fact has divided the fanbase into two camps: one camp pretty much doesn't care about this, while the other one doesn't feel excited. Gacha games implement a sort of game machine system, where a player has to roll for in-game items and characters. The rolling feature is usually based on a game currency, and this currency can be bought using real life money, so gacha games are known for their players spending a lot, that's why they're not so loved by many people.

Still, fans are very excited to see some more story details of the Jujutsu Kaisen world. Some mention the inclusion of Fukuoka Jujutsu High School as well as the characters that come with it. The opening for the game is animated by MAPPA, and fans point out its stunning and close-to-anime visuals.

Cursed Clash seems less exciting for the fans now. The release date is unknown for now. The game is going to be an arena fighter, thus based mostly on the action and fighting, and not story. Some fans even go as far as calling this format "an instant turn off". Nevertheless, this opinion isn't shared by everyone. Some JJK fans say that seeing a fighting game based on this anime has always been their dream, and the announcement made them really hyped for the final product. They also hope that the game will feature an online mode, so that they'll be able to fight alongside or against their friends.

The trailer shows parts of the gameplay, and for now it seems pretty regular. Fans mention that it looks like there aren't really curses to fight, although Jujutsu Kaisen itself should be about that.
