Episode 17 looks incredible

The episode that featured the Sukuna vs Mahoraga fight was the one that suffered the most when the season aired on TV back in Fall, so the news that it was getting a makeover was the most exciting for fans.

And MAPPA didn’t lie: the episode does indeed look much better on Blu-ray. No, not just “better,” fans say it looks magnificent. It’s everything they wanted the episode to be, and it’s sad that we had to wait four months to finally see it properly.

It turns out the rumors about Episode 17 being only 30% of the creative vision were true, and fans have noticed significant differences in the quality of the animation. The cuts are better, certain scenes are longer, there’s no dimming.

The episode is very action-focused, so there’s a lot going on on screen. It was challenging to follow what was happening in the original version of the episode, but the fixed version makes it so much easier to follow the battle between Sukuna and Mahoraga.

Blu-ray leaks

There are already some sequences from the episode online, and even though these are just screen recordings with a very excited fan screaming in the background, you can see that the changes do make the episode look more comprehensible.

Better cuts and lack of dimming are the things that fixed about 90% of issues that the episode had. The scenes of Mahoraga falling into the water or throwing the train at a building seem to have undergone some cuts changes, and they look much better.

The fandom is on cloud nine

Fans are more than just happy, they’re truly ecstatic. The Blu-ray release proved it once again: MAPPA’s skills were never the issue, it was the lack of proper deadlines.

The new version of the episode left fans speechless. They’re super hyped but a bit upset that they missed out on this back when the season was airing. It would have been a much better experience then, but they’re still happy the episode got fixed.

There’s hope that MAPPA will learn their lesson after this and will be more attentive to the staff and careful with the deadlines. And if they do, we’ll always be getting such masterpieces as the new version of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2.
