The third season of KonoSuba: God's Blessing on This Wonderful World! (Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo!) has been one of the most anticipated sequels of Spring 2024. This project has sparked a lot of discussions in the fandom — another change of studio was a somewhat controversial point.

The anime wasn’t supposed to air until April 10. Yet despite that, the first episode has been posted on pirate websites, claiming to have leaked it straight from Crunchyroll. While it’s still not available legally, fans are already discussing it.

First of all, a huge streaming platform like Crunchyroll having a security breach that results in anime episodes being leaked is a huge concern among anime fans. It wasn’t even just KonoSuba: 3 other anime got leaked as well, although none were as exciting as the third season for KonoSuba.

Fans were wondering where the leaks came from in the first place. Apparently, the leaked episodes were shown at SakuraCon in Seattle over the weekend. This explains where they came from, but doesn’t explain Crunchyroll having such an obvious security issue.

Of course, fans are also happy about the first episode of KonoSuba being leaked this early. Not only do they get to see the episode early, but this also makes them confident in the anime’s production schedule. The first episode was ready for at least 2 weeks before it was supposed to air.

Fans liked the episode

As for the anime itself, fans are definitely happy about the episode. It’s the same KonoSuba as always, with wacky jokes, characters being jerks to each other, and funny distorted faces. If you’ve enjoyed the previous two seasons, you would enjoy this one.

Also, fans remind others that they shouldn’t skip the movie that came out after Season 2. It’s easy to forget it exists in the first place, but it is actually a very relevant piece of content, and the third season alludes to it in Episode 1.

While most of this first episode was comedic, there have been hints at the larger plot that might or might not take place in the third season.

More specifically, Darkness’ family is going to play a prominent role once again, and fans wonder in which direction the story goes. Knowing KonoSuba, though, it might not go anywhere and end abruptly. Fans will be fine with that as well, of course.
