New Key Visual for KonoSuba Season 3 Sparks Discussions in Fandom

The series is going to start in April.

Summary:

  • KonoSuba reveals another key visual, which sparks debates about the art change among the fans.
  • Source readers want to see more of the LN animated, but even with this season, we probably aren’t even reaching the halfway point.
  • We can expect a new PV for the anime very soon.

KonoSuba: God's Blessing on This Wonderful World! (Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo!) is one of the most popular and beloved isekai series out there. Even people who normally aren’t fans of the genre seem to enjoy its comedic take on it.

Naturally, fans have been waiting for a full-season sequel for a while. After all, the original series is just 2 cours long, and 2 OVAs and a movie don’t add much. Megumin did have her own spin-off, and while the viewers generally enjoyed it, the cast interactions from the original series were missing.

Thankfully, we are getting a new season in Spring 2024, but the key visual revealed for it was somewhat controversial.

Yet another art change

KonoSuba is no stranger to art changes: the studio changed between S2 and the movie; however, the stuff was mostly the same. Even between the first two TV seasons, fans noticed a slight change in art style. The spin-off had a different studio once again, the same one that is going to animate S3 — which some viewers aren’t exactly fans of.

While the first key visual didn’t look particularly different in art style from the rest of the anime, that can’t be said about the second one. The art is noticeably different, and it looks like characters have been redesigned: while it’s not a huge change, it can still be seen clearly.

People who have been following KonoSuba since the first season say there’s nothing to worry about. After all, the key visuals for the second season and the movie also looked different from how S1 looked — but the art in the actual anime turned out to be way closer to the original.

It seems like KonoSuba is continuing its tradition of key visuals not matching the looks of the actual anime.

What do source fans think?

Now, fans are speculating about the anime adapting further content. The anime adapted 2 volumes in each season — and one volume in the movie. At this pace, we still won’t be halfway through the content if the new season follows this pacing: the light novels have 17 volumes in total.

Source readers are excited to see KonoSuba animated further. Despite the general consensus about the finale that it could be better (and less open to interpretation), it’s still regarded as a decent conclusion to the series, though we aren’t getting there anytime soon in the anime.

When is it releasing another trailer?

Now, we just need another PV for the series to dispel our concerns about the anime art changing. The anime is airing in April, and there will be advanced screenings in March — which means a PV is going to come before that. We can expect it very soon.
