What will happen if a male inherits the Female Titan?
Attack on Titan (Shingeki no Kyojin) features various titans, each possessing unique characteristics and abilities. All of these creatures have been discussed a lot by the audience, but it seems like one of them is getting a little bit more attention when it comes to its nature — the Female Titan. Fans want to know what happens when a male seizes its powers, and we’ll try to give you an answer (or…well…speculate a bit).
Despite having a significant amount of screen time unlike some other titans, the Female Titan is still covered in mystery. We know that it’s famous for its high level of mobility and endurance, that it has special hardening abilities, and that Annie Leonhart inherited it (some fans even go as far as saying that it is the only reason the girl got this titan: only for being a girl). However, we have no information about previous inheritors of the titan and the origins of its name.
Fans say that the idea of nine titans is that they inherit some parts of Ymir’s identity. For example, Attack Titan gets its desire for freedom from the founder, Cart Titan might be the embodiment of Ymir’s burden and submission to the king as well as the power of endurance. With that being said, fans suggest that being female is the trait that the Female Titan has received, because all other titans don’t have any gender-specific features, they’ve been made androgynous. Apart from it, only the Founding Titan is portrayed as a woman, but this is an exception, because this titan is special. Following this logic, fans say that the Female Titan always stays female, no matter who its inheritor is. This creature received its features due to Ymir’s identity as a woman, and it cannot be changed.
This idea, however, is not shared by all viewers. Some fans suggest that titans’ names were given to them by people due to their appearance. For example, the Colossus Titan was named like that since people had never seen a creature this colossal. So the Female Titan takes its name for the same reason: only females have possessed this titan before. But it doesn’t mean that it always has to carry the physical traits of a female body. Fans say that if a male inherits this titan, he will get all of its special abilities, but its design will differ, having male features. And, of course, the titan will need another name.
No matter what their opinions on this debate are, fans still agree that it’s unfair to suggest that Annie got the Female Titan just because she was a girl, thus agreeing that males are able to possess this titan just as well; we just don’t know what their titan is going to look like.
