Due to some manga developments Megumi has become one of the most talked-about Jujutsu Kaisen characters. We know it may sound weird to talk about him being underrated after this statement, but it’s still like that.
Fans like to joke that all that Megumi has is some mythical “potential” that everyone keeps talking about, but we have to disagree.
It’s true that Megumi never got to show his full potential as he faced a lot of beating and defeat, and his current situation is still unclear since Sukuna possesses his body now, and we might not even see him again.
However, if you really think about him, you may realize that Megumi is much more than what he looks like.
So powerful at this age
Megumi is only 15, he’s not a special grade sorcerer like Yuta, for example, and yet he already has his own Domain Expansion. It’s unfinished, yes, but it’s still highly impressive. Moreover, fans are confident that had his body not been taken by Sukuna, he would have finished the domain by now.
He showed great resistance and endurance during the Shibuya Incident Arc when he had to hold his domain to allow others to escape a cursed spirit. Of course, Toji was the one to beat Dagon, but even this defeat tells us a lot about Megumi’s powers.
After finishing Dagon, Toji attacked Megumi, and it was stated that Toji would just attack the strongest person around. See where we’re going with this?
He’s also a fast learner
On top of that, Megumi struggled a lot with the special grade curse back at the beginning of Season 1. However, some episodes later he managed to defeat one by himself using an unfinished Domain Expansion. If this is not proof of his powers, we don’t know what is.
Megumi is also very clever and creative with his powers, and fans admit that they do like him as a fighter a lot.
We genuinely hope that Megumi can come out of the entire Sukuna situation alive, and although there have been multiple theories suggesting that Megumi’s mind will never be the same and he will need some serious treatment, there’s also belief that he might join the fight even after all the horrors.
If that really happens, it will only prove once again how strong Megumi is and how much love and attention he deserves.
