The series keeps getting accused of being too confusing.
Fans are not even excited for big reveals anymore.
Metallic Rouge might be the most controversial series that started airing this season due to how differently various people perceive it. And it’s got only its story to blame.
Deceiving start
We have to admit that when the first episode of the anime aired, the series looked promising. It gave fans strong Lycoris Recoil vibes of being a great show with strong-personality characters, stunning yet simple fights, good soundtrack and amazing animation.
It’s true that the first episode of the series was all those things. On top of that, it had wonderful drama, and it took just 20 minutes for the viewers to sympathize with Sarah. But then the confusion began.
More characters are getting introduced, more concepts are mentioned, and the main conflict of the story still seems vague and unexplored. The worldbuilding feels all over the place, and you don’t really understand which parts of the story you should pay more attention to.
It doesn’t get better
Fans joke that Metallic Rouge feels like being stuck in a room with people who keep making inside jokes. It’s like you’re new to the group and don’t really understand what’s going on, but hear some familiar words and see these people react to them. And we think it’s a perfect metaphor for the series.
Overall, Metallic Rouge gives you a feeling that you understand what’s going on and don’t understand anything at the same time. And the latter feeling happens much more often.
Every time the series tries to explain something, like the origins of Rouge, for example, you get an “ah, this is it” feeling for a second, but a moment later this joyous sensation is gone: you’re back to confusion.
A number of fans think, though, that this is the beauty of Metallic Rouge: the anime is not trying to spoon-feed you all of its lore and wants you to try to solve the mysteries on your own. But the thing is, there aren't enough clues and information to solve the case without any help.
There’s still hope that there will come a moment or an episode where the big reveal will finally happen, but fans are not even that excited about it anymore.
They feel like it will happen too suddenly, and too much information will be dumped on viewers at once, and the waiting won’t be worth it. And we have to admit that we agree with this feeling for now.
