Future Diary (Mirai Nikki) is a dark psychological thriller that follows a regular teenage boy, Yukiteru Amano (or Yuki). The main protagonist uses his phone as a diary, documenting the events around him.
One day Yuki's phone is transformed into an actual Future Diary, which can predict…well, the future, and the boy gets dragged into a battle royale with other users of similar diaries. It looks like Yuki is not going to survive this game of elimination until he is saved by his classmate Yuno, who's completely infatuated by the main protagonist.
Turns out, Yuno also is part of the game and an owner of a diary, but it gets more interesting when it's revealed that the girl's phone shows Yuki's future, thus making her a very effective ally to the boy.
The story gets a dark turn because Yuno's obsession with the main protagonist borders on insanity, and she's capable of absolutely anything in order to protect Yuki.
Future Diary is one of the anime that has almost everything: mystery, fantasy, romance, darkness, insanity, action, strategy, character development. The story of the series is pretty intense, so you'll hardly have time to get bored while watching the series.
