Orb: on the Movements of the Earth is to Receive an Anime Adaptation by Madhouse

Premieres in 2024!

Summary:

  • Orb: On the Movements of the Earth is a historical manga series.
  • It is set in the 15th century, where heretics are burned at stake.
  • Madhouse is working on the anime adaptation, and it’s scheduled for 2024.

Orb: On the Movements of the Earth (Chi.: Chikyuu no Undou ni Tsuite) is a historical manga series written and illustrated by Uoto. It ran from 2020 to 2022, which makes it one of the rare examples of manga that manage to get all its conflicts resolved in just a couple of years (Eiichiro Oda feels personally attacked now, probably).

15th century and heretics

The anime is set in the fifteenth century, where heretics are burned at stake. Rafal, who’s a brilliant young man, discovers the shocking truth that the Earth orbits the Sun. The inquisition is not so amused by the discovery, though, and he commits suicide to avoid execution. A decade later, Okgi and Gallus find the research Rafal left behind, and now they have to decide whether they want to risk their lives for the truth.

Anime is scheduled for 2024

The anime adaptation was announced a couple of years ago, and we haven’t received much news about the project ever since. But it feels like the anime is truly on its way. Madhouse is the animation studio that’s working on the adaptation, and you might know them for such series as Frieren: Beyond Journey's End (Sousou no Frieren) or Death Note. The premiere is set for 2024, and unfortunately, this is all that we know for now. The exact release date, staff and cast members are yet to be revealed. But we’re nothing if not patient.

The choice of the animation studio seems like a really great one. Especially now that Frieren is doing so well and impressing us with its outstanding art style every week. Fans think that if Madhouse manages to adapt Orb: On the Movements of the Earth with the same passion, the anime will be incredible. And we want to believe that too.

Manga readers praise Orb: On the Movements of the Earth and are super excited for the anime adaptation. They think the series is highly underrated and hope that the anime will give it more recognition. The story is truly engaging, and the only thing it needs for success is a good adaptation. But as we’ve already mentioned, Madhouse gives us a lot of hope for that.

2024 promises to be a great one for the anime world, and we’ve just got one more series to be hyped for.
