Chapter 146 ended with Hikaru extending an umbrella to Ruby, and it frightened fans to no end. No one wants a cruel murderer next to the girl, and knowing his love for psychopathic behavior, readers were concerned about him hurting Ruby.
Chapter 147 makes them sigh with relief: the encounter between Ruby and Hikaru ended with them going their separate ways, unharmed. The two just had a talk, and Ruby was saved by Akane.
Did Ruby Recognize Hikaru?
The thing that manga readers have been arguing about since the moment the chapter came out is whether Ruby understood that she was talking to her own father or not.
Hikaru bears incredible resemblance to Aqua, that’s why a lot of fans are confident: Ruby did recognize him. If that’s not the case, it makes the girl look far from bright, and fans don’t want to believe that.
The most common opinion is that both Ruby and Hikaru knew who they were dealing with, but refused to make it obvious. There’s a theory that Ruby was just trying to bait Hikaru and get a reaction from him, but we can’t be certain.
