Over Not Over: Attack on Titan Manga Rumored to Receive a Fresh Chapter in 2024

Its plot, however, remains a total mystery.

Despite being officially declared over back in 2021 by its creator – Hajime Isayama – Attack on Titan (Shingeki no Kyojin) manga will make a comeback with a brand new chapter in 2024. This very exciting — albeit also somewhat puzzling to some — news was first published by the famous X (formerly Twitter) leaker account AniNewsAndFacts.

According to its sources, the chapter in question will be titled Attack on Titan Volume 35 and is expected to arrive on April 30, 2024 together with an artbook. The plot of the upcoming chapter, however, remains entirely a mystery which naturally opens a floodgate for a variety of fan theories. Ranging from relatively tame ones — expecting the chapter in question to serve as an epilogue that will give us a glimpse of the fates of various surviving characters and add some closing thoughts, putting a metaphorical bow on the whole series. To the more bizarre ones — expecting the author to seriously rework the highly controversial original ending of the manga in order to give the story a completely different conclusion that is going to please the fans.

In all fairness, the former not only generally seems much more plausible than the latter, but also is indirectly confirmed by the source itself as the size of the rumored upcoming chapter is said to be just 18 pages. Considering that the typical size of a manga volume is around 180 to 220 pages it sort of becomes clear that we should not really be expecting anything substantial. Especially since “rewriting” the original ending will first require its “undoing” — and that is a lot of content to stuff in just 18 pages.

Thus, despite the fact that the news itself is incredibly exciting, the fans who are dissatisfied with the current ending of Attack on Titan and are thirsting for a change — should not really get their hopes up as, from where we are standing, that turn of events is looking to be extremely unlikely. And, honestly, that is probably for the better.
