Some good old speculations about the origin of the demon.
Even though Pochita hasn't got a lot of screen time in Season 1 of Chainsaw Man, this adorable little demon manages to attract a lot of attention and affection from the fans. Can you blame them? Just look at this cutie!
We don't know much about Pochita for now, so we've decided it might be interesting to think about his possible origins and what he actually is.
Some of the theories are connected to Pochita's ability to consume other demons. The devil erasure power allows him to make other demons vanish and be forgotten by the public. This ability gives fans an idea that Pochita might be the Consumption Devil, who can steal other demons' powers by eating them. This theory provides ideas for some more options. For example, he might be the Oblivion Devil since he erases the memories of a demon after consuming them. It wouldn't explain his chainsaws but it would fit into the picture of his erasure ability.
Another theory suggests that there's a chance Pochita used to be human but then was turned into a demon due to mysterious events. Consumption plays a big role in this theory as well because it suggests that he stole the powers of another demon, and how else would he do that if not by eating them?
One of the main questions fans ask when talking about Pochita is "why the chainsaws?" Since a chainsaw is a pretty frightening thing that can destroy anything on its way, some people suggest that Pochita might be the Destruction Devil. Pochita's chainsaws and his immense powers give this theory a pretty solid basis. Him being connected to love seems pretty hilarious since chainsaws are one of the least romantic things known to mankind, but we guess someone's just so in love with little Pochita that it's all they can think of. Being the God Devil seems just as unlikely since the name itself is already an oxymoron, but it does have some basis since god possesses immense powers, and so does Pochita. Besides, erasing someone from existence can also give you some god vibes.
And the final theory is that Pochita is just the Chainsaw Devil, nothing more, nothing less. Chainsaws look badass and cool, and that might be just enough to make Pochita the way he is.
