Something to Look Forward to: 4 Upcoming Netflix Anime Series

Anime series you may want to add to your watchlist.

If you’ve already finished all the anime series you wanted to finish and are looking for something new to wait for, we’ve got a couple of recommendations.

Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft

If you’re not just an otaku but a gamer as well, this is going to be great news for you. Another one of the beloved video game series is coming back in the anime format this time. Starring Hayley Atwell as the voice of Lara Croft, the series will be set in the same universe as the video game trilogy (the 2013 reboot, The Rise of the Tomb Raider and Shadow of the Tomb Raider) and will follow the events of the last released game.

Moonrise

This sci-fi anime series is coming to Netflix in 2024. The story is written by Tou Ubukata, famous for his work on Psycho-Pass. The characters of Moonrise are designed by the author of Fullmetal Alchemist, Hiromu Arakawa. And the director of the series is Masashi Koizuka, who also worked on Seasons 2 and 3 of Attack on Titan (Shingeki no Kyojin). On top of that, the WIT studio is responsible for the production of Moonrise. With a team like that, it’s meant to be a success! And for now, you can watch a promotional video teaser in case you want to have an idea of what it is going to look like.

Devil May Cry

Another anime based on a video game series on our list. This time we’re talking about Capcom's Devil May Cry. The dynamic video announcement released in September 2023 shows us Dante being as badass as usual and this is already enough to get us hyped for the new adventures of this demon hunter. Hideaki Itsuno, who’s been the game director since DMC3, is supervising this project, so we can be sure about it staying true to the original source. Studio Mir that has worked on another video game anime adaptation (The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf) before will be producing and animating the series.

After being bullied for his art, he refuses to ever draw anything for other people again. However, his attitude is about to change when he meets a drunk woman, who makes him reassess his attitude towards life. Tatsuhiko tries again, and understands that he has great passion for animation and cannot avoid it. The release date is yet to be announced, but we can’t wait to see this story animated.
