Street Fighter 6 is a fighting game developed and published by the Japanese company Capcom. The game’s collaboration with Spy x Family was announced back in July 2023 to promote the Code: White movie, which was released in December 2023.
When it was first announced, no one really knew what to expect from such a collaboration, but fans were still excited. The idea of making Anya a playable character and seeing her just punching faces was very appealing, but to be honest, we all knew that Loid and Yor would be a more probable choice.
The collaboration was finally released on January 6, and the special event will be available until January 31, 2024. So if you’re a Street Fighter enjoyer and a Spy x Family fan, now is the best time to do something about it. But is it really worth it?
Fans are disappointed
When people first heard about the collaboration, they thought that Spy x Family characters would join the game, but the reality turned out to be less satisfying. Yor wasn’t added to the game as a proper playable character, it’s just an avatar skin. And you can use it now when you customize your own character.
So basically it’s just a Yor “wrapper” and not a new playable character. Fans say that it’s a Juri Han (a Street Fighter character) skin because Yor uses the same move set as her.
That’s why fans are understandably disappointed. They were expecting the actual characters to be added to the game, not a costume that can be put on anyone.
On top of that, fans can’t help but feel upset that they won’t be seeing any Spy x Family anime-style fights. The announcement had so much potential, and it just feels wasted.
And it’s not only an issue of expectations vs reality. Even those who expected the collaboration to be avatar content admit that they’re unsatisfied with the release. The way this “costume” looks is another thing that fans don’t really enjoy. They say Yor’s face looks extremely weird, and the entire thing gives off poorly-done vibes.
