The biggest issue with Yuri is that he likes Yor a little bit too much. He definitely has a sister complex and tries to do everything to get at least a sliver of his sister’s attention and affection.
It might be explained by their family situation. Yor and Yuri’s mother died when they were really little, and Yuri saw Yor as his mother figure. She became the center of his existence, her praise is the best possible reward for him and even the thought of disappointing her or making her upset instills him with fear.
Yuri doesn’t just love Yor like a brother would love a sister, he’s completely obsessed with her. He gets jealous when he finds out his sister’s married, his locker is packed with her pictures, and he gets weirdly flustered when Yor kisses him on the cheek.
These are just some of the examples, and not even the most unhinged ones, and fans cannot ignore it anymore. It feels like the series is trying hard to make viewers think that Yuri has romantic feelings for Yor, and fans are disgusted by that.
The Series Should Tone It Down
This gag has been in Spy x Family since the moment Yuri was introduced, and it keeps going on no matter how much time passes. Fans are getting really tired of it and want the series to stop or at least tone it down a little bit.
The romantic undertones of Yuri’s feelings for Yor are weird, and viewers think such things don’t belong in a family anime. There are tons of other running gags that can be introduced into the series, but for some reason the inappropriate incest one has been chosen.
