Apparently, Episode 7 isn’t even finished yet.
Summary:
- Episode 6 of ‘Train to the End of the World’ was finished 13 days before it’s supposed to air.
- Fans already compare the show to another anime-original trainwreck, Wonder Egg Priority.
- There is still a chance the production won’t fall completely behind schedule.
As Train to the End of the World (Shuumatsu Train Doko e Iku?) finally reveals details of its plot, fans are happy to see where exactly the story is going. However, concerns about the production of the series still exist, and it seems that they’re about to get worse.
Episode 6 Is Ready… 13 Days Before the Air Date
When the anime aired its first episode, the fourth one wasn’t even ready, according to a statement by the director. Such a schedule is concerning to say the least, even by current production standards. As such, fans were already worried — and the news just got worse.
A yet another X (formerly Twitter) post by the director says that Episode 6 is finally ready. The issue is that there are only 13 days until the episode airs. At this pace, the production will have to take a long break around Episode 8 or 9, which would be a big deal.
It’s Being Compared to Another Show
While people still like Train to the End of the World, there are already comparisons to Wonder Egg Priority. There are, indeed, several similarities between the two series, although they have nothing to do with the plot itself.
Both anime are original — not based on any previous source material — and both are extremely ambitious. The very nature of the setting is part of the mystery, and both series kept their real premise hidden until the day of the premiere.
Another similarity? Both anime suffered heavy issues with their production. Wonder Egg Priority is notorious for having a mid-season recap unannounced, which pushed the resolution of the plot further. The series ended inconclusively, and a special had to be aired later — which was still half a recap, and the other half isn’t really a good finale anyway.
Ultimately, Wonder Egg Priority was considered one of the biggest disappointments of its year, and fans fear that Train to the End of the World will suffer the same fate.
Maybe It’s Not Too Bad
Others feel that the production issues are a result of unfortunate circumstances, and they won’t have any impact on the writing quality of the series. The anime probably doesn’t have many people working on it, as it’s an original project, and it’s hard to raise funds and find investors for these.
Some even think the issues with production schedule are not that bad. Multiple episodes are being worked on concurrently, and there are still chances the anime will finish all its episodes in time, or at least won’t have more than a one week break.
