Sukuna and Gojo Serve as the Basis for Power Balance in Jujutsu Kaisen

Sukuna and Gojo Serve as the Basis for Power Balance in Jujutsu Kaisen

Without them, it would have been different.

Jujutsu Kaisen spoilers ahead!

Summary:

  • Due to their immense powers, both Gojo and Sukuna force their opponents to fight harder.
  • This creates a power balance in Jujutsu Kaisen.
  • With Gojo out of the picture, his students will have to take his place.

It goes without saying that Gojo and Sukuna are the strongest characters in the Jujutsu Kaisen series. And it takes a lot of skill and power to even try to be on the same level with them. Such a power imbalance could even ruin a show and make it less entertaining to watch, but somehow Jujutsu Kaisen manages to make it work. So how does it do that?

Gojo has great faith in his students

Gojo seems very confident in his own students and even after he’s sealed, he knows for sure that they can handle themselves. Some fans think that Gojo’s overestimating his students, but it might be wrong. With him around, younger sorcerers cannot unleash their full potential, they always have Gojo by their side. This way, he serves as a limit for their powers. But with Gojo out of the picture, his students’ protection is their own job, so they are forced to fight harder.

It’s said that the appearance of Sukuna is the golden age of jujutsu, since such a great danger as the one he poses makes the sorcerers up their game significantly. And Gojo’s birth changed the situation and altered the power balance. It’s taken an opposite turn, and made sorcerers stronger than any cursed spirits. They were so scared of Gojo, that they were forced to hide or vanish. But it’s also been a great influence on them since it forced them to become stronger.

That’s how power balance is created

Both Gojo and Sukuna’s presences leave no choice for their opponents but to fight the hardest they’ve ever fought. If only one of the sides has such an ally as one of those, it would create a power imbalance, and by having both of them in the story, Jujutsu Kaisen manages to avoid that. But what can be done now that Gojo is gone? Does it mean the curses win?

And this is when Gojo’s students get their time to shine. Without him, Yuji and his friends will have to take his place and become just as strong (or even stronger) than their teacher. Yes, Gojo is extremely talented and gifted, but the new generation of sorcerers has great potential, too. They just didn’t have a real chance to show that. And now that they’re forced to do so, they may even surpass their teacher.

This is quite sad news for those who are hoping to ever see Gojo again, though. Because his reappearance will spoil the development of his students. So we’re really sorry to say that, but there’s a pretty good chance he’s never coming back.

Without them, it would have been different.
