They are disappointed, though.

Ten Count is a boy love manga series written and illustrated by Rihito Takarai and began its serialization in 2013. We’d like to tell you that an anime adaptation of the series is on its way, but the fact that we can’t is exactly what’s new with Ten Count.
Falling in love with a patient
Ten Count explores a rather problematic topic of a psychotherapist falling in love with his patient. Tadaomi Shirotani suffers from OCD and severe fear of germs. Shirotani understands that he needs help with this issue, so he visits a therapist, Riku Kurose.
However, the therapist terminates their sessions after some time, and it turns out that such a decision is connected to Kurose’s feelings. Still, they continue treatment; might it be the beginning of something else?
Countless delays
The anime was announced back in 2018, and fans were extremely hyped because BL adaptations are always welcome. Everyone thought the anime would air somewhere in 2019, but it didn’t happen. Something else happened though, and they received a small teaser, letting them know that the project was indeed in the works and setting the release date to 2020.
But as we know, 2020 wasn’t meant to become the lucky year, either, and the anime never aired then. It was postponed to an unspecified date and the format of the adaptation was being reconsidered.
Two years later, in 2022, it was revealed that the Ten Count anime would be a feature-length movie, scheduled for 2023. The news got fans excited once again, but we have to be honest, so many delays made people start losing hope bit by bit. And unfortunately, the pessimists were right.
Anime is canceled
On January 18, 2024 it was announced that the Ten Count movie was canceled due to some production issues. This is what fans were fearing, but we’d be lying if we said that no one was expecting this outcome. The “disappointed but not surprised” meme is the best way to describe fans’ feelings.
The good news, though, is that the manga is already finished. The last chapter was published in November 2017, and the entire series is not that long: only 51 chapters.
So if this series sounds interesting for you or if you’re craving a boy love story, you should really give it a chance. Who knows, maybe one day another brave studio will think about turning Ten Count into an anime.
