Things That Got Better in Chainsaw Man Over Time

It’s time to praise the series a bit.

Summary:

  • While the beginning of Chainsaw Man is great, the story gets only better over time.
  • Part 2 of the manga is rather controversial, since some fans suggest it’s going terribly now, and some say it’s gotten better.
  • Chainsaw Man fans have incredible faith in Fujimoto and think the best part is still ahead.

With all the recent criticism of the Chainsaw Man Manga Part 2, it feels like there aren’t enough good things about the series anymore. And we would like to change that, since no matter what period the series is now experiencing, it’s still a phenomenal manga that's been highly entertaining for all this time.

Anime only showed us the prologue

While speaking about something that got significantly better over time, fans mention the first part of the manga. A good portion of the anime criticism was connected to that, actually. The point is that the events that were in Season 1 were just the prologue for the story, the fun is supposed to start after that. If you liked the first season, manga readers have exciting news for you: it’s only going to get better.

Part 2 is more controversial

Part 2 of the manga, on the other hand, is a complete opposite. Readers mention its highly strong start, but mention it getting worse and less exciting over time. However, the drop of quality becomes less prominent when Barem is in a panel, so we can consider him being in the story a significant development.

No matter how the beginning of Part 2 is praised, there are still some that were not very hyped about the change of the main protagonist. They truly loved Denji, and didn’t want someone replacing him, that’s why Asa and the first chapters of Part 2 were not as satisfying for them. But after some time they got used to that and started truly enjoying the story.

Fans also think that side characters become much better in Chainsaw Man. Part 2 introduces a lot of them, and while they weren’t really that interesting at the beginning, they grew on the readers with time. And not just side characters, Asa herself, as we’ve already mentioned, was initially given a cold shoulder, and now she’s one of the most popular Chainsaw Man characters.

But the most common opinion in the Chainsaw Man fandom is that the best part is still ahead of us. CSM fans have weird faith in Fujimoto and his story-telling talent. They don’t even want to try to predict how the story will end and what will happen in the finale. “Let him cook” is what they say. So they are waiting for him to surprise them with something spectacular as usual. After all, they say that Part 1 of the manga also had a moment that turned out to be the quiet before the storm.
