He’s Too Powerful

Sometimes it feels like everyone in the story is after the Chainsaw Devil, trying to steal his heart, and it’s a no-brainer: Pochita is truly powerful. His devil erasure ability also makes him extremely dangerous to a lot of opponents.

But fans have always felt that there’s more going on with Pochita. There’s something hidden that we don’t know, he’s not just the Chainsaw Devil, but also something else.

Creation Devil

There’s a theory that Pochita might actually be the Birth or Creation Devil. We know that the Four Horsemen fought him in Hell once, and since they usually represent the end of the world, it would make a lot of sense for them to oppose the one who represents the creation of it.

Out of the Four Horsemen, being the Creation Devil will make Pochita oppose Death the most. Pochita always wanted Denji to show him his dreams and live a happy life, which is nothing like Death, who grants dreams to those who are dying.

Moreover, it would make the intestine scarf that the Chainsaw Devil wears receive another meaning. Fans previously thought that this “scarf” was just another media reference that Fujimoto decided to add randomly. But what if it’s not?

The intestines do resemble the umbilical cord a lot. They pop out of Denji’s navel and are wrapped around his neck.

Another shocking but peculiar fact is that chainsaws were originally invented to help mothers deliver babies. Yes, you read that right, and no, this is no joke. And if Fujimoto also knew it, he might have thought it was a great idea for symbolism.

But wait, that’s not the end, there’s more. The devils of the series hear the sound of chainsaws when they are reborn, so once again there’s a connection between chainsaws and birth.

On top of that, Pochita’s devil erasure ability would also make more sense if he was the Creation Devil. When he consumes them, he sort of reverses the process of birth. That’s why he doesn’t just gain their abilities, but erases them from existence.
