Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 254 ended with an unexpected turn of events. No, Kusakabe’s defeat was pretty much anticipated, but Miguel’s appearance surprised a lot of readers.
Miguel is a character we saw in Jujutsu Kaisen 0. At first, he was on Geto’s side and fought Gojo to stall him. However, Miguel was later forcefully recruited by Gojo and returned to Kenya, which is his homeland, to train Yuta.
There hasn’t been much of him ever since; we only saw flashbacks of him and heard Yuta mentioning him. And yet he appears in Chapter 254 and promises to save the day.
Miguel’s cursed technique is unknown
Miguel is truly one of the most mysterious Jujutsu Kaisen characters, even if it’s mostly because of the lack of screentime. But what if he’s been kept a secret for a reason and there’s actually much more to him than meets the eye?
Manga readers have a theory that focuses on Miguel’s cursed technique. We know that he comes from Kenya, and beliefs in some sort of reincarnation have been common in traditional African societies for ages. There’s no proof that Miguels’ homeland has something to do with his technique, but what if it does?
If Miguel’s abilities have something to do with death, reincarnation, or being reborn, they might allow him to bring back the dead or interact with them in one way or another.
There’s an idea in African societies that bodily death is not the end for the spirit. Part of the spirit stays alive without a body, and another part is reincarnated in a different body. What if Miguel is capable of reuniting these parts? It’s not exactly “bring back from the dead” but it’s something similar.

There have been a lot of unsatisfying deaths in the series, and manga readers think there’s a chance that it was all intentional. Miguel might be the key to solving this issue and one way or another bringing the dead characters back from the dead.
After all, his cursed technique must have been hidden for a reason. And his appearance in Chapter 254 should have meaning, too. Of course, it’s just a theory, but it’s too easy to believe, since we all want our faves back.
