Observant fans noticed that episode 20 of the latest season of Bleach omitted a few scenes featured in chapter 578 of the manga. While not significant to the plot, these pages reveal the real gravity of the situation Zaraki Kenpachi found himself in at that point in the story.

There are more manga moments from the final arc that didn’t make the cut. The infamous “peaches” scene is one of them. The Bleach manga is not averse to nudity, especially when it comes to female characters. In chapter 519, we can see Rukia floating upside down in a healing pool, with her lower area exposed to the elements. This panel is pure fan service, so those who decried it as unnecessary sexualization of Rukia’s character were happy about the cut.

Another deleted scene is about old man Yama grieving his loyal vice-captain's death. In it, Captain Byakuya reveals to us that Captain Yamamoto and his assistant Chojiro Sasakibe had been very close for centuries, and his pain at losing his friend must be unimaginable. Many fans felt that Sasakibe deserved a proper send-off, and so they were disappointed by Studio Pierro’s decision to exclude this moment from the show.

Finally, there’s a short scene in chapter 529 that shows a comic exchange between Ichigo’s dad Isshin, back then one of the Soul Society captains, and his lieutenant, Matsumoto. This brief scene gives us a glimpse into Isshin’s past and what life was like for him as a Shinigami. This is one of the many funny moments that were most likely overlooked to extend the length of the fight scenes.

All in all, the anime mostly stays true to the original, keeping in line with the manga’s pace. Some fans speculate that we’re in for a surprise, as the anime breezed through a huge number of the manga chapters in the span of a few episodes. Could it be that Studio Pierrot has prepared some new plot twists or battles for us?

Back in 2022, Bleach mangaka Tite Kubo admitted that not all of his ideas for the finale were added to the manga, as there was simply not enough time to include them in the final product. Perhaps there’s a chance that we’ll get to see them in future episodes in the time slots freed up by the cutscenes.
