Tower of God Is Coming Out This July: What Do We Know Right Now?

Tower of God Is Coming Out This July: What Do We Know Right Now?

Coming to Crunchyroll in July 2024!

Summary:

  • Season 2 of Tower of God will feature a new protagonist.
  • Fans believe the anime will be two cours long, but nothing is confirmed.
  • It will be streamed on Crunchyroll.

Season 2 of Tower of God (Kami no Tou) is probably one of the most anticipated sequels that are coming out this year. Fans have been waiting for it since the end of Season 1 in 2020, as the series left a lot of questions unanswered.

We’re finally getting the anime in July — and it just revealed a new key visual.

A new protagonist?

It seems that the new season is going to focus on the new protagonist. It’s understandable that many anime-only viewers weren’t very fond of Baam, but source readers actually feel they’d appreciate him more compared to Wangnan. Wangnan isn’t a bad protagonist, but fans feel he’s a bit generic.

The focus will shift back to Baam in later arcs, of course, but that’s probably not happening in Season 2 — assuming it will be one cour. That said, fans really do not want it to be one cour, and understandably so.

The arc S2 covers is fairly long

The arc that Season 2 is going to adapt can’t really be adapted properly in 12 episodes. While it is possible that the anime will rush through it, fans feel that’s very unlikely — considering the fact that the first season had proper pacing.

Fans are currently wondering if the anime will air for 2 consecutive cours or will it be a split-cour with the second one announced just after the first part ends. That said, nothing is confirmed at the moment.

The arc will transform into the tournament arc near its end, but if the anime is going to be two cours long (whether split or not), we’re not getting there in the first 12 episodes anyway.

What else do we know?

Many fans noticed already that the art style looks slightly different from that of the first season. That’s on purpose: the new art style is closer to that of the manhwa. Fans really don’t mind that, though.

The anime is going to be licensed by Crunchyroll, and will receive a subbed simulcast on the same day of the week as the original release. The exact day of the release is unknown, though. As for the dub, there is currently no announcement for it.

However, Season 1 was dubbed by Crunchyroll, and fans are assuming Season 2 will be as well — they just don’t know when it is going to come out.
