We still want them to end up together, though.
Summary:
- Loid and Yor’s relationship development is taking too long.
- Every romance has to have this development, though.
- The best part of their love story is their journey.
The slow development between Loid and Yor has been a sore subject for most Spy x Family fans for ages. With each episode (and movie!) viewers want to see these two interact in a romantic way, be it handholding, a feelings confession, an actual kiss or even something more.
But the desired development never comes, leaving fans wondering when these two poor souls will finally realize that their family pretense is no longer a pretense, but instead is turning into something bigger.
It’s fair to suggest that Yor and Loid are really meant to end up together. The series hints at this a lot, and this conclusion feels like an obvious one, and, moreover, like the only probable one. But why are we moving there so slowly?
It’s not that bad
A lot of anime romances tend to happen overnight or lack actual development. Do we even need to remind you what kind of commotion the finale of Attack on Titan (Shingeki no Kyojin) caused with Eren suddenly starting to feel something for Mikasa?
If there’s not enough development, attention to detail and motivation, no one will ever believe in character connections. That’s why well-written romances take time. And that’s why Loid and Yor still think that they’re playing pretend.
But Spy x Family is nothing like Attack on Titan, you may say, and we have to agree. Still, Loid and Yor also have a lot of issues that they have to resolve before they can become an actual couple. Revealing their identities being number one on that list.
Then, after the identities have been revealed, they’ll still need more time to understand how they will deal with this truth. And only after that will they be able to begin their love story.
Journey is the best part
Yes, it’s taking a lot of time for Loid and Yor to move somewhere, but the best part of any romance is the journey that the characters take to get to their “happily ever after.” And Loid and Yor’s “happily ever after” is the endgame for the entire series.
That’s why when fans ask for them to become an actual couple, they’re rushing the series to its finale. And we’re not sure that we’re ready to say goodbye to Spy x Family just yet.
For this reason, we think that waiting is not such a horrible thing when it comes to Loid and Yor. They are going to be together, we’re confident about that, but we’ll have to wait just a little bit longer.
