Which Eren is the Best Eren? Least and Most Popular Ones, Ranked

Which one did you enjoy the most?

The beauty of Eren Yeager from Attack on Titan (Shingeki no Kyojin) is that he’s always been a very complex character. He can offer pretty much everything that there is to offer in a character: trauma, drama, epic action, existential dilemmas; he can be a hero, he can be a villain, passionate or calm, cruel or caring.

Eren’s character development is phenomenal, and it’s been such a pleasure to watch him grow and evolve. We all have our favorite (and least favorite) versions of this character, and we’ve decided to look at all of them and see which one is more enjoyable by the fandom.

4. Ending Eren

This one feels like the least favorable by the fans. Breaking down and crying over his death and Mikasa finding another man, this Eren doesn’t even feel like the real one. Even Armin calls him pathetic in the manga, and the audience agrees. This can be seen as just another way to portray Eren as a human being with feelings and emotions, but the previous moments in the series were much better at doing so.

3. Seasons 1-3 Eren

Definitely the most underrated one! Eren wasn’t the most popular character in the series, and some fans were straight up saying that he annoyed them to no end. But hear us out. We meet Eren as a little boy, who just wanted to be free. His determination and eagerness to fight and create a better world for him and his friends were incredibly inspiring. Yes, emotionless Eren that says something badass and kills his enemies is cool, but seasons 1-3 Eren was more human. He was learning to deal with his trauma and control his powers, and those moments became the foundation for his character development.

2. Hobo Eren

Fans call this version of the main protagonist the “Real Eren”. He’s not void of emotions yet, and he speaks his mind clearly and calmly. He’s surrounded by the sinister ambience and a feeling of something terrible about to happen. Hobo Eren also showed us that he was capable of doing horrible things to himself in order to succeed, like cutting his leg off or taking his eye out. And his existential conversation with Falco will always remain in our hearts like one of the best.

1. Chad Eren

This Eren is no. 1 on our list for a reason. Season 4 became the moment when Eren overran all other AOT characters in popularity. His clever manipulations and intricate plans made the audience gasp for many times, and him acquiring more and more power and becoming more and more badass only sparked the interest of the fans. It’s when we saw him becoming the villain of the story, and this change influenced Eren’s character perception a lot.
