Who Are Paladin Corps in The Witch and the Beast?

Who Are Paladin Corps in The Witch and the Beast?

Paladins are finally here.

Summary:

  • Episode 6 introduced Paladins into the story.
  • They are the only force capable of handling witch-related cases.
  • Their connection and relationship to other organizations are still unclear.

The Witch and the Beast (Majo to Yajuu) keeps expanding its world and telling us more about its lore, and we just have to point out once again how good the worldbuilding in the series is.

All the new concepts appear at just the right time with just enough explanation to make the story entertaining and keep the needed amount of mystery. And Episode 6 introduced another group, which is the Paladin Corps.

Who are they?

The Paladin Corps are a magic-based military force, devoted to upholding world peace. They serve under the Global Holy Church, which is the world's largest state religion in the Witch and the Beast.

The mission of the Paladin Corps is to tackle large-scale crimes involving magic. And they're also the only force capable of handling witch-related cases. Tell that to Ashaf and Guideau, huh?

So basically, the Paladin Corps are some sort of police that take care of witches any time they're causing problems. That's why Ashaf was so confident that they would encounter the Corps on the witch case.

The castle that you could see in Episode 6 is the Paladin Corps' strategic base. It's guarded by numerous barriers and serves as headquarters for Paladins. They don't have to leave the castle to attack, since they've got seekers that they send to fight instead of actual soldiers.

These seekers can spy on and attack enemies without risking the life of actual Paladins. And the Paladins can create new ones in case the old ones are defeated. Which is exactly what happens in Episode 6.

Relationships between various organizations

Although the Paladin Corps serve under the Global Holy Church, it looks like these two organizations have different goals and ideas of how things should be done. There are minor clues at that, such as one of the Paladin wanting to kill the witch, and the priest wanting to capture and investigate her.

There seems to be a level of distrust between these two forces, and it's still unclear how deep their connection goes and how much the works of their organizations are intertwined.

We don't know how The Order of Magical Resonance, where Ashaf is a member, and the Paladin Corps are connected for now, either, but we doubt that these two forces have a good relationship.

We also hope that there will be more information on the Paladin Corps and judging by the finale of Episode 6, there are more details to come. And we can't wait to learn them.
