Wind Breaker is an upcoming anime based on a manga series of the same name, written and illustrated by Satoru Nii. The manga is relatively fresh and began serialization only a few years ago, in 2021, and is still ongoing. The anime adaptation of Wind Breaker was announced on March 30, 2023, and it was revealed that CloverWorks (The Promised Neverland, Spy x Family) was working on it.
The story of Wind Breaker follows cocky Haruka Sakura, who has no respect for weak people. The strongest ones, on the other hand, are exactly the people he likes to challenge. Haruka starts a new school, Furin High School, where degenerates are known for their brawling strength. His hair is naturally split in half black and half white, and he has heterochromia, so he knows what it’s like to be judged for his appearance. But it’s also made him adapt and become stronger, and now Haruka’s ready to fight his way to the top.
A lot of famous faces
Wind Breaker is set to premiere in April 2024, and will be directed by Toshifumi Akai with scripts written by Hiroshi Seko. Character designs will be handled by Taishi Kawakami, Ryo Takahashi will compose the music for the series. The voice cast has also been revealed, and we can see a lot of familiar faces. The Jujutsu Kaisen fandom will especially like the cast since it’s got Yuuma Uchida (Haruka/Megumi), Yuuichi Nakamura (Hajime/Gojo), Nobunaga Shimazaki (Hayato/Mahito) and Kouki Uchiyama (Kyoutarou/Inumaki).
First PV is out
While we’re all waiting for the anime, there’s a small teaser to enjoy. The first promotional video for the series has been revealed, and it’s everything you could have expected from a show with such a premise. Threatening speeches, badass vibe and background music, and a lot of fists, ready to fight. Fans can’t help but mention that the trailer reminds them of Tokyo Revengers a lot, and we have to admit that we see the resemblance, too. But this is not necessarily a bad thing. Fans say Tokyo Revengers burned a big hole in their hearts, so there’s a chance that Wind Breaker will fix it and heal their souls.
The anime looks promising for now with its stunning character design and badass vibe, so our desire for April 2024 to come has just become a bit stronger.
