Would We Treat Attack on Titan’s Eldians the Same Way if They Were to Exist Now

Would We Treat Attack on Titan’s Eldians the Same Way if They Were to Exist Now

Probably, yes.

Summary:

  • It was difficult to sympathize with Marleyans while watching Attack on Titan.
  • If Eldians were in the real world, we would hardly be so amused with them.
  • They would pose great danger and might even be treated worse than in the fictional world.

Due to Attack on Titan (Shingeki no Kyojin) starting with Eldians' perspective, it was very difficult to fully understand Marleyans when they were introduced to us in Season 4. We spent years with Eren and his friends, caring and rooting for them to become free from the titan tyranny. So Marley and its people were perceived as the enemy. Someone who’s trying to hurt our faves.

Caring for Marleyans wasn’t easy

All of that made it complicated for us to really understand the other side and try to see the world through their eyes. Although the Marleyan characters have also received some love and there’s a part of the fandom that managed to fall in love with them, we can’t deny that Eldians are still fan favorites.

But imagine people like Eldians in the real world. People who are capable of turning into frightening giant creatures and destroying everything on their way. If such a great danger existed in our world, how would we react?

Attack on Titan includes several allusions to World War II, and some fans think that this is already a good enough proof that the real world would treat Eldians the same way they’re treated in the series. But even though there are definitely similarities, we don’t think that Eldians are the same as the people who were terrorized by the Nazis.

Eldians are monsters

Eldians are dangerous, that’s for sure. They are the only ones who can become Titan Shifters or mindless titans. And this is just a human instinct to get rid of something that possesses danger. So there’s a high chance that people would try to destroy the Eldians or somehow restrict them.

Fans think that if Eldians were to exist in the real world, they would definitely get hunted down to almost extinction and be prohibited from reproducing. It would be hardly fair since they didn’t choose to be like that, but the danger is too great to just ignore it.

On top of that, Titan Shifters only have 13 years to live. If they’re not eaten by another titan, another Eldian inherits their power. If this process isn’t controlled, humanity will be in danger of having babies or teenagers with the ability to transform and destroy entire cities during one of their tantrums.

The thing that can be said for sure is that we definitely don’t want any Eldians in the real world, but fictional ones will forever be in our hearts.
