5 Anime to Watch if You Love Final Fantasy Games

Gamers can be into anime, too!

Final Fantasy is an immensely popular video game series developed and published by Square Enix. We’re not the first ones who associate these games with anime because of their anime-like style and Japanese origins.

If you’re also a Final Fantasy fan and you don’t know what to do with your time while you’re waiting for the release of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth (February 29, 2024), here are some anime you can watch to make the waiting easier.

  1. Brotherhood: Final Fantasy XV

What is the best anime that you can watch as a Final Fantasy fan? A Final Fantasy one, of course!

The name of the series says it all: the anime is set within the events of Final Fantasy XV. The amazing thing is that the series provides the viewers with some additional details about the backstories of Noctis and his close friends. Brotherhood continues the main story of the game and gives us more depth into its world and characters.

  1. Puella Magi Madoka Magica (Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica)

Just like many Final Fantasy games, this series starts like a fun and cheerful adventure but turns out to be much deeper and darker after some time.

A group of middle school girls encounter a mysterious cat-like creature Kyubey, who promises them to grant their wishes in exchange for them becoming magical girls. This way they will have enough power to fulfill all of their dreams.

We won’t say much about this anime because a lot of fans say it’s better to go into it blind, but just know that it’s not as simple as it may look.

  1. Frieren: Beyond Journey's End (Sousou no Frieren)

 - image 3

This series is an absolute last season’s hit, so if you still haven’t seen it, this is the best time to start.

An over-a-thousand-year-old elven mage, Frieren, decides to reevaluate the human bonds and understand the meaning of true connections. While getting rid of demons and using wonderful magic along the way, of course!

  1. Heaven Official's Blessing (Tian Guan Cifu)

The main thing this series has in common with Final Fantasy games is stunningly handsome male protagonists. And, well… a lot of space for shipping them.

Xie Lian used to be a beloved god. Before he got banished to the mortal realm, that is. And not just once, twice! However, he ascends again and is on a new mission, where he encounters a mysterious stranger, who guides him through forest.

  1. Violet Evergarden

It has nothing similar to Final Fantasy at first sight, since it doesn’t have all these cool fantasy elements, but if you start watching it, you will feel the same melancholic vibe that your beloved game series is notorious for.

Violet is an ex-soldier who doesn’t know what to do with her life after the war is over. She gets a job as an Auto Memory Dolls, a person who writes letters for people, incapable of doing so. And who knows, perhaps this is the thing that’ll help her finally understand the last words of her Major.
