Anime fandoms are constantly changing, there are countless new titles that become popular every year, new obsessions and theories. We can't help but start feeling bored of old things and crave for something new, something unexplored. While some fans think that new is always better, we've decided to remember some series that used to be talked about.
It might surprise you but this anime aired 7 years ago, even though it feels like it was only yesterday when everyone was screaming about cute figure skating boys and debating whether they were in love. The show tells us a story of a young Japanese figure skater, Yuri Katsuki, who gets noticed by a Russian skating star, Victor Nikiforov, and continues the training under the older man's supervision. You just had to be there for the hype surrounding this show!
Hiyori used to be a simple girl until one day an accident puts her between two worlds and causes her soul to constantly leave her body without her controlling it. She meets Yato, who is a minor god whose dream is to become exceptionally rich and be worshiped by as many fans as possible. And this is when the adventure begins! Although the excitement about this show is long gone, it's still worth watching. Great news for Attack on Titan fans: two characters of the main trio are voiced by Levi and Eren's seiyuu!
This anime will turn 20 next year but it's still a pretty good watch. The story focuses on a supernatural species possessing invisible telekinetic arms that can destroy anything on their owner's way. Mystery, drama and scientific experiments — that's what makes it so compelling. But be prepared for gore and cruelty, even the first episode alone has so many severed limbs that you're going to lose count.
A regular student boy, Shinichi becomes the victim of an alien parasite trying to seize his body and mind. The parasite fails and the result is peculiar: it lives in the boy's hand. Shinichi is forced to deal with this situation and bond with the parasite along the way. This is a fascinating story packed with drama, action and philosophical issues.
Owari no Seraph
Humans are now slaves to power-hungry vampires. Sounds terrible enough, but the story gets even more depressing after Yuichiro, the main character of the anime, loses his entire family to a cold-blooded vampire. No, it's not the beginning of Demon Slayer, but it's also got a lot of depth, drama and visually appealing action. Be careful with the opening, though, as it's got some major spoilers for the story.
Old doesn't always mean boring.
