Oushi is too aggressive

It became obvious pretty early in the series that Oushi was in love with Yuki. However, he is absolutely incapable of properly showing that. Instead of confessing his affections or having a heart-to-heart with the girl, he acts as a tsundere and is being overprotective of her.

Oushi treats Yuki as a little helpless girl, always scolding her for being out alone and spending time with Itsuomi. He gets extremely jealous and even aggressive and calls Yuki an idiot.

That’s why so many fans started disliking the man because of his behavior. Viewers put Yuki on a pedestal and want the best for her. And someone who constantly brings her negative emotions isn’t a person they want to see next to Yuki.

Even though the episode doesn’t fully redeem Oushi and make him a prince on a white horse magically, it gives us more perspective on his character. Viewers can understand that he’s really suffering and how much his feelings actually hurt him.

Oushi was quite hostile to Yuki right from the beginning of their relationship. He was just a little kid and he didn’t really know how to express his feelings and perhaps even how to fully understand them.

And yet there was a certain attraction. He learned sign language because of her, since it gave him the opportunity to escape into the silent world alone with Yuki. This is how viewers learned that there was a tender part in Oushi, too. He just doesn’t know how to deal with these feelings.

It doesn’t mean that Oushi will become fans’ favorite character overnight, but it does mean that they can understand him better now. Fans admit that they don’t see a way for Yuki and Oushi to be together, and that Itsuomi is a better fit for the girl. But knowing that Oushi is not all bad is wonderful. And who knows, perhaps one day he’ll turn into a truly likable character
