Attack on Titan ending haters are not so omnipresent anymore.
The anime finale improved a number of the manga parts.
Fans are moving on to other projects instead of focusing on their rage.
The Attack on Titan (Shingeki no Kyojin) finale is out, and everyone is having their fun. While one team is praising the ending for its storytelling decisions, the other one is trying to find solace in memes and sarcasm. The anime adaptation didn’t offer any major changes to the original story of the manga, and a particular part of the fandom just has to deal with it and move on with their lives.
When the manga ending was released, it felt like no one was satisfied. The haters were the loudest, and endless Twitter threads with meticulous analysis of every tiny detail emerged every day. But the tide is turning now that the ending got animated in the adaptation.
Anime finale is an improvement over the manga one
No, manga readers that disliked the ending back then haven’t changed their minds. The anime does little to fix all the problems of the original source. However, even the haters cannot deny that the anime finale had a substantial improvement. A couple of questionable things (such as Armin thanking Eren for the Rumbling) were removed, and the phenomenal work that MAPPA did on the final chapter of the story can’t be ignored. The finale looked (and sounded) incredible!
Ending haters had plenty of time to deal with the outcome. There was little chance of the anime actually changing the ending, and everyone was aware of that, no matter how much they secretly hoped that it would indeed be different. Yes, the meme community is thriving right now, and some of the debates are back. But basically everything that there was to say has already been said.
It was never so terrible after all
We have to admit that the Attack on Titan finale is nowhere even close to the disaster level of, let’s say, Game of Thrones. It’s controversial, yes, but it’s not THAT controversial. It’s fairly believable that people would actually like it. Especially since it’s wrapped into stunning visuals and accompanied by the awesome soundtrack. Anime onlys are enjoying the ending, so good for them.
The disappointed ones talk less and less about Attack on Titan, and the satisfied ones are happy to discuss their favorite anime. So it feels like ending defenders are the majority now. And if you’re not one of them, fans suggest you move on to other anime and just have fun. After all, that is what anime is supposed to bring you, fun!
Or are they just less loud now?
