Right when the Black Butler (Kuroshitsuji) fandom lost any hope of ever seeing their favorite boys animated again, September 2023 came in like a superhero and brought the news of another part of the story being adapted: Public School Arc (Kishuku Gakkou-hen). The last time the Black Butler anime made us happy was when the Book of the Atlantic movie came out in 2017, and it feels like 7 years is what it takes to see more.
An official trailer has been previously released and we’ve already discussed it and its striking resemblance to Hogwarts here. And now we’re getting more stuff and information about the premiere. Okay, it’s working and we’re getting excited for Season 4 of Black Butler, well done!

December 14th is Ciel’s birthday, and some fans knew that this event would be a great way of revealing a couple of details about the upcoming season. They knew something was coming, and they were right! Black Butler: Public School Arc is scheduled for April 2024. Which makes it only four months away! Four months that, as we sincerely hope, are going to be filled with more details, trailers and visuals. And speaking of visuals…
Along with the news about the release date (or release month, if we’re being precise), two new visuals with Ciel and Sebastian were revealed. They both portray a picture frame hanging on a wall, inside which there’s either Ciel or Sebastian. The frame is decorated with the symbols of the Public School houses that have been shown in the official trailer before.
Public School Arc
The Public School Arc of the Black Butler manga follows The Luxury Liner Arc that was adapted in the 2017 movie, so the story will take over from there. It will bring us to Weston College, which is the most prestigious public school in Great Britain. When a few students refuse to come home and cease correspondence with their families, Ciel is forced to enroll in the college to investigate the case. And Sebastian is there to help him, of course!
Black Butler is undergoing an animation studio change. A-1 Pictures, which was previously responsible for adapting the series, gave way to CloverWorks, and we’re eager to learn if this change is going to be a positive one.
