Boruto Should Have Been a Slice-of-Life Series, Hear Us Out

How awesome would that be, though?

Summary:

  • Boruto has never been as enjoyable as Naruto.
  • It would benefit a lot if it were a slice-of-life series.
  • Naruto characters deserve peace.

Even though a sequel to Naruto seemed like a very exciting idea back in the days when no one was ready to part with the anime, when Boruto happened, fans were not that hyped anymore.

It didn't work

It's as simple as that: the sequel was never as exciting as the original series, and a lot of fans even gave up on watching Boruto after a couple of episodes.

Still, we can't say that Boruto is a complete failure.

Yes, almost everyone would agree that it was disappointingly weaker than Naruto, but it doesn't mean that we can't enjoy it. But we think there's a way to make it even more enjoyable.

Why not make it slice-of-life?

This genre choice might feel weird when we're speaking about Naruto, but just think about it. The fight is over, the major conflicts are resolved, the story has arrived at its natural conclusion. So what more do you need to know?

The point is that there isn't much. We just don't want to say goodbye to the series and its wonderful characters. And if new conflicts have no chance of being as enjoyable as the old ones, why do we even need them?

Imagine just watching Naruto and Sasuke having their calm and relaxed family lives, trying to heal after everything they've been through and struggling with a couple of everyday issues along the way.

This series would be the peace that all of the Naruto characters (and the fans) deserve. No more deep inspirational speeches, no more danger and drama, just a wholesome calm experience.

Fans even suggest that it would be great to turn Boruto into a lighthearted comedy series, something like Spy x Family, where you can also add a little bit of action to make it more dynamic. While keeping the serenity its main focus, though.

The previous generations have suffered enough, and fans don't want Boruto to have the same fate as his father. Why not just create some sort of Konoha Disneyland and watch Hinata visit it with a couple of kids for several episodes?

It might sound boring at first, but we're sure that fans would have enjoyed such a series greatly. And if there were moments when they found themselves craving some more action or even danger, they could always come back to Naruto and rewatch an episode or two.
