This anime is doing a lot of things right and gives viewers things they don’t often see: the main cast consists of adults, all of them are different, all are skilled in a particular field, there’s body and race diversity, there are both male and female characters that are paid great attention to. And this is why it’s so engaging to follow them and explore their dynamics.
Although Laios may not be the absolute fan-favorite character, it’s hard to deny that his interactions are the main source of fun and interesting moments. Fans are confident: he’s autistic-coded. He doesn’t recognize social cues, he has little knowledge of how to properly behave and interact with other people.
Laios’ story with Shiro is a great example of this. Laios thought Shiro was his dear friend and was always trying to spend more time together, while Shiro was absolutely annoyed with the men and thought he made it clear he wanted nothing to do with him.

They’re all very different, and yet they manage to work together, respect each other’s weaknesses and try to work as a team. Marcille was disgusted by the mere idea of eating monsters, and it took adventurous Laios, calm Chilchuck and unbothered Senshi to make her understand that she had to.
Even though Senshi is rather obstinate, he acts like a weird dad to all the party members. He teaches them how to cook monsters and survive in the dungeon, and they listen to him and respect him for that.
Each character has their personal important moments as well as interactions with others. We can see their bonds forming bit by bit on our screen, and it’s fascinating to watch.
No matter how good the story of Delicious in Dungeon is getting now, the characters, their interactions and their dynamics will forever remain the heart of it.
