Fluffy Paradise Finally Gets into Plot Territory, But Fans Don't Really Want That

We just want to see more Neema and her cute pets.

Summary:

  • Episode 6 of Fluffy Paradise brought back the more serious elements that were teased in the anime’s premise.
  • Fans are unhappy with this development, wanting the show to stay light-hearted.
  • If this continues, fans might consider dropping the series.

The most recent episode of Fluffy Paradise (Isekai de Mofumofu Nadenade suru Tame ni Ganbattemasu.) finally got to the more serious implications in the series. After all, the initial premise didn’t rely on just the cuteness factor — it actually was about the conflict between humans and monsters.

Until the sixth episode, that part was barely relevant. Viewers didn’t mind, though: the main reason people are watching it is probably because of how cute Neema and her pets are. Fans really never wanted it to leave the territory, and are predictably uninterested with the more serious turn the anime took.

Episode 6 introduces us to a moral dilemma of fighting a spider — that just wanted to feed its offspring. It tried hard to sell the whole “creatures have to fight, that’s a law of nature” thing, and that doesn’t really work if you also try to make it sad — usually, one part prevails over the other.

As if that wasn’t enough, the anime also got into very specific lore implications behind the evolution and the subspecies of goblins. While seeing Shinki as a human-like cool guy was surprising, it’s not really a direction we wanted to see the series go in.

Moreover, in this episode, Neema’s father gives her a stern talking about the consequences of her actions. Apparently, she should take things more seriously, as her choices are going to affect the world.

There are points to be made about the butterfly effect, but fans don’t feel like they belong in this anime. For example, seriously, how does taking in a pet rabbit directly affect further events?

This tone doesn’t really fit the anime

For a show called Fluffy Paradise (and yes, the Japanese title is longer, but it still has the same “fluffy” feeling to it), the last episode certainly wasn’t fluffy at all.

It was brutal and overly serious, and many fans felt it was a downgrade from what the anime had been before — granted, the one before it ended on quite a cliffhanger as well.

Viewers really want the anime to stay cute and light-hearted, like it was at first. There was still plenty of that in episode 6, but many fear that the series will become completely serious.

For something like Fluffy Paradise, which has become a comfort show to many, an anime they can watch every week just to feel better, this would be alienating most of its fanbase.
