Fluffy Paradise Was Extremely Disappointing in the End, Here's Why

Fluffy Paradise Was Extremely Disappointing in the End, Here's Why

It should have stayed a cute slice-of-life.

Spoilers ahead!

Summary:

  • Fans loved the slice-of-life parts of Fluffy Paradise.
  • Later on, the anime focused on a serious plot instead, with many dubious plot twists and themes.
  • Such a drastic change in tone disappointed the fans.

If you’ve seen the PV or even the first few episodes of Fluffy Paradise (Isekai de Mofumofu Nadenade suru Tame ni Ganbattemasu), you probably thought it was just a cute series about a reincarnated girl who really likes fantasy animals.

Well, that’s at least part of the series, and there’s more to it than that. However, fans felt that in the end, the anime was extremely disappointing, and they have a point.

The start was pretty good

The first 6 episodes of Fluffy Paradise are actually exactly what you expect from it. They mostly revolve around Nefertima (or Neema) growing up after being reincarnated, obsessing over various pets. This part of the series is simple but heartwarming: fans actually loved it, with Neema being one of the most wholesome protagonists of the season.

Yet somehow, the anime drifted into a wrong direction starting from Episode 7 — which is where the anime started getting into the more serious parts.

The plot completely disregards what made the anime good in the first place

Yes, Fluffy Paradise actually teased a more serious plot in the beginning — with humans and non-humans being apparently at war. That said, for the first half of the series, this plot was completely irrelevant. The latter half, however, started to focus on it — completely ignoring what made the anime good in the first place.

The war between humans and monster races, the apparent genocide going on, humans being actual evil (or, at least, evil to other races) — what even is going on in this world? Almost none of this was actually needed, and fans were extremely unhappy and disappointed with the direction the series took.

The pacing of the series also suffered. The first half of Fluffy Paradise was mostly a slice-of-life, where things happened rather slowly. The second half was very plot-focused, and many things happened too fast — with some of them making no sense at all.

At some point, Neema finds a slime and swallows it, which apparently keeps living in her body. Except, of course, this was never brought up again.

Not a good recommendation for wholesome anime fans

Overall, the drastic change in tone combined with a lack of actually good plot points turned Fluffy Paradise from a wholesome (although somewhat forgettable) show into a huge mess.

Yes, it does go back to its original feel-good nature at the end — for a split second — but that definitely wasn’t enough to satisfy the fans. If you still haven’t seen it but just want a wholesome series, you aren’t getting it here. Perhaps it wasn’t so fluffy after all

It should have stayed a cute slice-of-life.
