Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 has announced its digital release this month, and it’s scheduled for March 20, 2024. Blu-ray/DVD copies are always an exciting event, but with Jujutsu Kaisen it’s even better since Season 2 had some major animation issues that the digital copies may fix.
It’s been officially announced that Episode 17 (the one featuring the Sukuna vs Mahoraga fight) will have a makeover. There will be some additional scenes, and hopefully the animators will have a chance to make the episode match their creative vision.
Although we know there will be some changes, no one really knows what they are going to be like. And Jujutsu Kaisen fans shared their expectations for the upcoming release.
No dimming and ghosting
Dimming, ghosting and censorship have become the worst enemies for shounen anime fans. There had been complaints about various frames looking weird in the second season of Jujutsu Kaisen even before the massive MAPPA outrage began.
So the most obvious expectation is that there will be no dimming and ghosting in the digital copy of the episode. A lot of moments in Season 2 felt like blurry sketches, and fans hope this will no longer be an issue.
Better cuts
This is another thing that viewers noticed while watching the episode. It was quite challenging to follow because a big number of scenes ended abruptly, skipping to the next one without a proper connection between them. The animation team didn’t have time to finish this before the broadcast, so let’s hope they have enough time now.
It was difficult to understand some moments, such as Mahoraga dropping into the water and adapting to it. It was on the screen for a mere moment, so a better cut would fix it significantly.

There were other things that fans found weird, and not only in Episode 17, but in the entire season. Characters’ faces looked strange and unnatural from various angles, hands and fingers suffered a lot, viewers noticed odd movements in several scenes.
These might be minor details, but they can still ruin the immersion and spoil your experience, that’s why there’s hope that the final version of the season will be polished and receive a great makeover.
The director of the series promises that the difference between the old version of the season, and especially Episode 17, and the new one will be big and very noticeable, and fans really want to believe that.
