Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Doesn't Work? 5 Most Common Fan Complaints

A masterpiece gone wrong.

Shibuya Incident is probably the most anticipated and discussed Jujutsu Kaisen arc. This fall, fans finally got what they wanted – an anime adaptation. But the second season wasn't entirely dedicated to Shibuya; at the beginning Gojo's past was shown. The season caused a stir and became a big event in the anime industry.

However, despite the great popularity and enthusiastic reviews, there are those who did not like it. Some viewers are even complaining about the lack of an emotional connection to the series. Here are the most common complaints about the Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2.

1. Eternal action

Many people note the fast pace of the story. This was a characteristic of Jujutsu Kaisen in the first season as well, but in the second season, the pace has picked up a lot. Every episode has some important event or even the death of a character. Viewers have no opportunity to take a break. Because of the abundance of events, some people stop empathizing with the characters – there are so many difficulties that you stop believing in them.

2. Nothing but fighting

Another plot-related problem is the abundance of battles. Of course, the Shibuya Incident Arc is action-packed, and it's impossible to show the confrontation between sorcerers and cursed spirits without using fights, but in the last few episodes, almost all the time is spent on them (and the plot doesn't move forward). If this trend continues, Jujutsu Kaisen will turn into a regular battle shounen.

3. Not feeling the place

Many viewers have problems with the physical perception of the place. The characters seem to be wandering around in circles, with all the action taking place in a relatively small area. For example, the appearance of Yuji walking aimlessly on the Nanami battlefield looked disorganized, and the moment when Toji threw Megumi out of the window was shocking, as it seemed like the battle with Dagon was taking place underground. The whole thing looks like chaos, which is very hard to understand.

4. Suffering characters

Perhaps the most glaring problem is the lack of character development. Fans criticize Gege Akutami for spending too much time on his favorite villains and not enough time on the main characters. After the first season, it seemed like the story would continue to develop around Yuji, Megumi, Nobara, and possibly Gojo. But in the second season, Gojo disappears after an arc about his past, and Nobara becomes a supporting character with little screen time.

5. Relatively weak arc

The Hidden Inventory Arc, which was shown in the first episodes of the second season, probably had a bad influence. Fans loved it for many reasons: for the details about the Jujutsu Kaisen’s world, for the character revelations, and for the well-directed action that mixed many genres. But it didn't reflect well on the whole season. On the contrary, the Shibuya Incident Arc looks crumpled. Fans feel that the season would have been better if the two arcs had been shown separately.
