Kaiju No. 8 New Trailer Reveals Release Date, OP and ED: Yungblud and OneRepublic Involved?

Kaiju No. 8 New Trailer Reveals Release Date, OP and ED: Yungblud and OneRepublic Involved?

We did not expect that.

Summary:

  • A new Kaiju No. 8 trailer is out.
  • The anime is scheduled for April 13, 2024.
  • The theme songs are by Yungblud and OneRepublic.

Kaiju No. 8 (Kaijuu 8-gou) is an upcoming anime adaptation of the sci-fi manga series of the same name, written and illustrated by Naoya Matsumoto. It is produced by Production I.G and is scheduled for April 2024.

Kafka Hibino is a young man who dreams of joining the Defense Corps, a military organization risking their lives to fight monsters called "kaijuu." Despite his desire to help, he fails in his attempts to join the Corps and is left with a much less satisfying job, as a sweeper.

But his relationship with monsters is about to get to another level, as a small one of them forces its way in through Kafka’s mouth, turning the man into a humanoid monster.

New trailer is out

Apart from providing more footage and giving fans a clearer idea of what the anime is going to look like, the new Kaiju No. 8 trailer does a couple of important and exciting things: it reveals the exact release date and both the opening and ending themes.

It’s already been confirmed that Kaiju No. 8 is set to air in April 2024, and now we have a more precise date: the series is scheduled for April 13, which leaves fans with a little bit over 6 weeks until the premiere.

But the most exciting things are the OP and ED themes, which are surprisingly… not Japanese!

The opening theme is “Abyss” by Yungblud, an English singer and songwriter, and the ending theme is “Nobody” by OneRepublic, an American pop rock band. Parts of both soundtracks are featured in the trailer, and fans already want them both in their playlists.

Although everyone is rather surprised by the choice of bands due to them not being Japanese, they’re very hyped to see such acclaimed Western musicians in an anime. After all, we don’t need to speak Japanese to understand what they’re singing.

Character design

The main complaint about the upcoming Kaiju No. 8 series remains the same after the new trailer, however: fans are unsatisfied with the character design. They had their hopes that it would look better in further trailers, but it seems like their hope was in vain.

It’s still too early to judge the entire thing based on a few trailers and visuals, but fans admit to not having high hopes for the quality of the adaptation. And we hope that April 13 will prove them wrong with the premiere of Kaiju No. 8.

We did not expect that.
